An old boat started a new chapter for Rena. Now she helps other boaters write theirs.
Captain Rena Navarro is the owner and lead instructor of Lake Superior Captain’s Academy. Her background in education shapes the way she teaches: practical explanations, room for questions, and personal guidance.
From chart work in the classroom to navigating the application process, you’ll have an instructor who understands both the material and the person learning it.

Classes are held in Superior, Wisconsin, convenient to Duluth and the Twin Ports. Check your selected course for its venue and schedule.
No professional boating background is required to join the course. Licensing has separate sea service and other eligibility requirements; talk with Rena about your experience before enrolling.
Course completion is part of the process. You still need to meet the Coast Guard’s requirements and complete its application process. Rena can help you understand the steps.
